Group Fitness
Varied, functional training for a balanced, athletic body.
Overview
Cross training combines a variety of disciplines — strength, cardio, flexibility and endurance — to build a balanced, versatile body. By mixing movement patterns it develops multiple muscle groups, reduces overuse injury and keeps every session fresh.
Athletes from every sport use cross training to stay strong, agile and well-conditioned — and it’s the perfect complement to any martial-arts program.
The case for it is really an argument against specialising too early. A body that only ever does one thing gets very good at that thing and quietly fragile everywhere else, which is how people end up injured doing something unremarkable. Varying the movement pattern week to week is the cheapest insurance against that there is.
In practice it means you will not know exactly what you are walking into, and that is the point — circuits, boot-camp formats and full-body conditioning rotate through the block. Five sessions run each week across Cross Training, Full Body Circuit and Boot Camp. Scaling is expected rather than tolerated: everyone in the room is doing a different version of the same session.
Why train Cross Training
Varied patterns find the weak links a single sport never tests, which is usually where the injury was going to come from.
Boredom ends more training than difficulty does. Rotating formats is the simplest defence against it.
Every movement has an easier and a harder version and the coach will give you one. Nobody is doing the same workout as the person next to them.
Conditioning designed to support what you actually do — on the mats, in the ring, or carrying shopping up three flights.
